Due to the smoking ban and lack of outside facility's for smokers at the House on the Hill I now fear the majority of the customers (smokers) who have propped up this hostelry for many years will now be forced to look elsewhere to enjoy a pint and smoke in heated and covered comfort for the winter.
Many pubs have realised that this is the way forward and they will be the ones who keep their original customers and attract new custom to survive.
As a regular at the House on The Hill for many years I will also be seeking pastures new for the winter due to the lack of management foresight (good old Humphrey)
I will be back in the summer sitting on the wall with my fellow flower pot colleagues beside the antique plant pots after my forced migration to sunnier climes, but will try to pop in occasionally to say hello and show off my suntan.
All I can say is I doubt it very much if the hand full of regular non smokers will keep this fine pub going through the winter (Where are all the non smokers that were supposed to be using the pub when the smoking ban was implemented)
PS. You can build a lot of flats on the land that the House on the Hill stands on.
